How To Patch a Small Hole in the Wall

Have you ever had a hole in the wall that needed to be repaired because you removed a towel rod, or it fell down?

If that didn’t happen to you maybe you just want to replace your towel rod with another holder that is fancier or nicer or matches your new decor.

What is the easiest and quickest way to patch the holes so that they look like they were never there to begin with?

This method can be used for holes in the wall from pictures or other items that were hung on the wall.

Supplies

  1. Sand Papper
  2. Damp cloth with a little water
  3. Compound mixture that is already mixed up
  4. Putty Knife
  5. Paint to match the wall
  6. Roller or Brush to apply paint to the wall

Steps

  1. Remove any loose paint or debris by scraping it with a putty knife
  2. Sand the tops of the holes and the area around the holes if needed

3.The entire edge of the hole should be completely flat

4. Clean the surface and wipe off any dust with a damp cloth

5. Apply putty on the putty knife

6. Scrap the putty knife at an angle over the holes 2-3 times. You may need to apply a little pressure for the mixture to go into the hole(s).

7. The hole should be completely filled with spackle compound

8. Wipe off any access putty that is on the surrounding area on the wall

9. Let the putty dry overnight

Note: I am using putty that changes color when it is completely dry. So, when the putty turns white, I know that it is dry, and I can precede to the next step.

10. Sand the top lightly to get an even area. You may not need little to no sanding.

11. Make sure that the surface is flat and remove any access dust or compound with a damp

12. Let the area dry completely

13. Paint over the entire wall patched area and let it dry completely. It may take more than one coat to cover the new area.
