It’s that time of the year again. The holidays – Thanksgiving and Christmas – are over and it is the beginning of the new year. It is the third week of January, and it is time for me to go to Micheals, Hobby Lobby, Target, Walmart, and the grocery stores to purchase some deeply discounted holiday items for next year and some that I can use throughout the year and for Valentine’s Day.
On my first trip to Micheals, I purchased two packs of ribbons, 22-gauge wire and Scentsicles. What I like most about this purchase is that I can use some of these items now. The Scentsicles will be placed in my bathroom and other rooms in my home. The gauge wire will be used for the many craft projects that I will be making for this website and my videos.

The ribbons packages contain red ribbons that I can use to create projects for Valentine’s Day in February. The biggest surprise I got this month was when I was at the Drug store, they have house slippers in the Christmas section that were 80% off. I bought my daughter and myself a pair of slippers. They even had socks, tee shirts, mugs, towels and more. It is three weeks after Christmas and all of the holiday items I purchased were 80% percent off.

I can think of so many things that I can do with some of these items. Purchase some for gift baskets, for parties, decorating and reselling online on your very own website, and other online platforms like Amazon, eBay, Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist.
Every year after Christmas I always see great storage items that are on sale 80% to 90% off. These are great items to buy to store your items around your house.

Below are some tips to maximize your savings when buying Christmas items on sale after Christmas.
This is not just for Christmas items you can apply these same tips when you shop throughout the year after any holiday and save a lot money.
Plan Ahead: To prevent from purchasing unnecessary purchases, create list of the items you need for next year, such as decorations, wrapping paper, gift bags, or holiday-themed dishes. Also, consider where you will be storing these items in your home and your storage needs.
Buy in Bulk: For the items that you know you will need each year consider buying in bulk. These are some of the main items that they have left after the holiday and can last for several seasons – wrapping paper, ribbons, gift tags, cards, gift boxes for gift cards and more.
Look for Big Discounts: After each holiday, retailers offer significant discounts to clear out seasonal items. These sales range from 50% to 90% off. They include decorations and gift supplies and more.
Use Coupons and Rewards: Read over the stores policy for its loyalty program. You may be able to use the loyalty program and coupons when you purchase these items on sale. Stacking the saving with additional discounts can help you save even more.
Check for Free Shipping Deals: Some stores may offer promotional free shipping after the holiday or if your purchase is over a certain amount.
Look for Clearance and Out-of-Season Items: Many retailers will discount holiday-themed items after the season. You may be able to score Christmas-themed items like mugs, plates, or linens at a fraction of the price.
Don’t Buy Items You Don’t Need: If you don’t need it or don’t plan on using it within a certain time period, leave the items in the store. In some stores there will be so many items to choose. Try to avoid impulse buying to prevent from wasting your money.
Check Online Marketplaces: Check the same stores online and other online stores that you cannot shop in person or are not in your area. Don’t forget Amazon, eBay, or local marketplaces like Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist.
Store the Items Properly: Read the directions on how to properly store your items. Be careful especially if you have items like candles. Some of your items may require you to store them a cool, dry place. Follow the storage directions so they will remain in good condition for next year and to prevent you from wasting your money.
