The Best Fresh Sauteed Garlic Green Beans

Sauteed Green Beans using fresh green beans, garlic, olive oil, and little seasonings is all it takes to make this great side dish. This is a good way to get more vegetables in your diet. This recipe can be changed up by altering the seasonings. Try it by the recipe the first time. After that change up the seasoning and make it your family’s favorite recipe.

My guest always asks me for this recipe when I serve these at my house for a gathering. When I tell them how to do make them, they always say they taste like a chef made these.

Ingredients:

1 (3 pound) bag or fresh green beans

2 Whole Garlic cloves minced

1/2 tsp salt

1 tsp pepper

1 – 2 tbl olive oil

Pot to boil the green beans

Pan to sauteed the green beans

Prep Ahead

Have the green beans already cleaned, with the ends cut off and cut into the length you desire for the side dish. You can also have the garlic already minced and stored in the refrigerator. Prep time makes cooking time shorter..love it 🙂

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS

  1. After rinsing off the green beans, cut both ends off and cut them into 2-3 inch pieces.

2. Turn the stove top on medium and place the green beans in the pot with enough water to cover them.

3. Cook the green beans long enough for them to get slightly soft. Be careful not to

overcook them. The step only takes 4-5 minutes. The green beans will be bright green and barely tender.

4. Remove the green beans from the pot and place them in a strainer to remove the water. Let them stay in the strainer for 5-10 minutes so as much water as possible is removed from the green beans.

5. After the green beans have cooled down and or no longer hot use a paper towel to tap dry the green beans and remove some of the water from the outside of them.

6. Place a pan on the stove top and turn the stove on medium- low. Add 2 Tbls of olive oil and the minced garlic. Sauteed the garlic for 1-3 minutes. Continually stirring while it is cooking.

7. Add the green beans to the pan with the garlic. Sprinkle the salt and pepper on top of the green beans and continue to stir for 5-10 minutes until they are done. *only put in a single layer of green beans in the pan.

8. Stir this as needed and cook to your desired tenderness and color.

9. Serve in one of your favorite serving dishes and enjoy!

I like my sauteed green beans to have a little crunch to them. These are always a favorite to have at my house and can be served with so many main dishes. I change up the seasonings so my family will not get tired of eating them.

Variations

Exclude Garlic

Add your own favorite seasonings

Use fresh herbs

Try some premixed seasonings.

Tips

When boiling the green beans/ try to slightly cook them don’t overcook green beans because they will cook some more when they are being sauteed.

Watch the amount of olive oil you put in the pan you don’t want your green beans to be greasy.

Make sure your pan is big enough so that the green beans are in a single layer.

As always …have fun and when you serve these make the setup look like a picture.
